What kind of painting do I have?
Recently I have inherited several wooden carved paintings from Europe. I cannot find who made them or anything online that resembles it. It is of a German village or maybe some sort of European village, with darker colors, and each picture has a small tree with blooms on it. Each picture is made of carved wood. Was this a trend or something that was sold to tourist in the 1960s? It was bought in Frankfurt Germany around 1962. Any help would be great!!!
what you have is called a low relief sculpture or bas relief. i cant tell you too much more about it than that. you could try reposting the question in the travel section for germany, that might give you a better lead if it is a tourist type item.

its the Franz Irsara one about half way down. you could try asking the gallery if they can tell you anything about it but there specialty seems to be bronzes.
